Welcome to our website.  We are working playwrights who aim to create more
opportunities and new platforms for our work in the Midlands and beyond.

Working with Birmingham Repertory Theatre

OPEN DOOR at Birmingham Repertory Theatre is a season of new work and works-in-progress from regional playwrights.

‘THE RUSSELL BRAND EFFECT – The Morning After’

Monday June 29th 2015, 8pm in The Door

How was it for you? Any regrets? Russell Brand may have changed his mind about voting, but a third of UK voters stayed at home. Wish you’d voted? Wish you’d voted differently? Wish you could leave the country? BOLDtext playwrights challenge the election result with some political theatre in The Russell Brand Effect – The Morning After, an evening of micro-plays at The REP on Monday June 29th as part of their Open Door season.

Following the success of The Russell Brand Effect presented two days before the election, this time we’ll ask if you have any regrets – should you have voted? Should you have voted differently?  So, whether you’re disillusioned or delighted with the election result, come along and cast your vote at The Russell Brand Effect – The Morning After at The Door on 29th June.

Tickets are free at The Rep box office or phone 0121 236 4455.

Last year, in The Door, we tested new work in front of an audience over three fantastic evenings, curated by Liz John for BOLDtext Playwrights, with more than 350 people seeing our work. We received extremely useful audience feedback and we’re using this to help shape and develop our plays.

Then in November and December, we presented Selfies – a series of self-portraits exposing what it’s really like to be a working playwright in the Midlands today.  Presented by ourselves, the results, like all good selfies, was entertaining, diverse, occasionally comedic, and sometimes downright bizarre! These shows were curated by Vanessa Oakes for BOLDtext Playwrights.  We plan to take our collection of Selfies to literary festivals later this year.  More information is on its way.
